THE COURSE

Breaking the Silence: Foundations Training is a the safe ministry training course used within the Presbyterian Church to be completed every three years by any person in a position of authority within the church, including all those working with children and young people. It has been developed to address the issues relating to abuse within a church context and our right response in preventing abuse from occurring in our ministries.

The BTS Foundations Online Training is the same course, delivered via video modules that cover each of the six training sections. It has been designed to be done either in a group or as an individual.

DIFFERENCES

If you wish to complete BTS Foundations Online Training, and are not part of a Presbyterian Church or organisation, please note that some content will not apply to other denominations and are based on the specific Policy, and Code of Conduct adopted by our denomination, and our governance structure. Please refer to your church’s own safe ministry policy and code of conduct and governance structure where applicable.

1.

FOR INDIVIDUALS:

At the end of the training, you’ll be required to complete a quiz to demonstrate your understanding of the material. For this reason, it will be helpful for you to underline key points and make good notes as you go through each section. You will need a score of 80% or higher to have your training recorded as satisfactorily completed, and can attempt the quiz again if needed.

FOR CHURCH GROUPS:

Make sure all participants fill in a training attendance register. This will be signed off as complete and accurate by the Minister or BTS Representative.

2.

DOWNLOAD THE WORKBOOK:

You need to use the Foundations Training workbook throughout the training course. We advise printing the workbook so you can write in the spaces provided and make notes.

3.

BEGIN TRAINING COURSE:

The course consists of six videos, and takes approximately 2 hours to complete.

QUIZ:

You’ll be directed to the quiz once you have watched all of the training modules.

If you have questions resulting from this training please contact your Minister or ministry leader or get in touch with Andie at the CPU at cpu-training@pnsw.org.au.
